Therapeutic properties: It appears in the European Pharmacopoeia IV. It is a sedative of the central nervous system and is useful as a regulator of pressure in anxious states. It promotes sleep and has an antispastic action on the vegetative system. It also acts as a bechico (cough suppressant) and antipyretic. It has diaphoretic properties, so it helps eliminate toxins through sweating.
